Finally some nice days brought good fishing! The backcountry bite was pretty good most of the week for redfish, sheepshead, and trout. Redfishing was steady with most trips landing a few each day in the 17-25″ size. Redfish continue to eat shrimp tipped jigs on the bottom near mangroves with a few fish caught while cut baiting along shorelines and oyster bars. Sheepshead were fired up all week both inshore and nearshore. Sheepshead up to 6 pounds could be caught on docks and along mangroves during the higher tides. The sheepshead bite on the reefs was very good with upwards of 25 caught on many trips. Trout are around, but mostly small when using popping corks along the edges of the flats.
